Stat Lab · Strictly mobile · Since 2008

Lab draws,
brought to the
patient at home.

Stat Lab is a mobile medical laboratory and phlebotomy practice for homebound patients across Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC. We bring the collection to the bedside — no waiting room, no ride, no hour in a chair that is not yours.

For families arranging care, and for the people who arrange it all day

Homebound patients, families and caregivers

You are the one making the appointment for someone else. That is most of our calls. We plan around mobility, hearing, medication schedules and the pace of the day, and a caregiver is welcome to stay in the room for the whole visit.

  • Homebound and bedbound patients
  • Recurring labs on a regular schedule
  • Family present for the whole visit

Referring partners and care settings

Home health agencies, assisted living communities, group homes and concierge physicians use us so a resident does not have to be transported for a routine draw. Several orders in one building can be collected in a single visit.

How a partnership works

How a home visit goes

Four steps from the first message to the result reaching the doctor. Nothing here needs a printer, a drive, or a day off.

Start at step one
  1. 01

    You send the request

A short form or a phone call. Tell us the patient, the town, and what the order calls for. It takes a couple of minutes.

  2. 02

    We confirm the visit

We call back to agree on the day and the time window, go over the order, and answer anything the family wants to ask first.

  3. 03

    We come to the patient

We arrive with the supplies and complete the draw at the bedside, in an armchair, or at the kitchen table, at the patient’s pace.

  4. 04

    Results go to the doctor

Specimens are handled and routed to the laboratory on the order, and the results return to the provider who ordered them.

Why families keep our number

Stat Lab is not a lab with a courier. It is one mobile practice that has been doing this since 2008, and the convenience is the point.

We only do home visits

No storefront, no walk-in traffic competing for the appointment. The whole schedule is built around traveling to patients.

Unhurried appointments

A difficult vein, a nervous patient, or a family with questions gets time. We would rather do it once, calmly, than fast.

Experience since 2008

Years of homebound, geriatric and pediatric draws across the DMV area, and the habits that come with them.

Caregivers in the room

Whoever helps the patient day to day can stay for the visit, ask the questions, and hear the same answers we give.

Stat Lab — Life Matters

Our community, our focus

Same mission. Better access. Healthier communities.

Stat Lab is the practice behind the slogan: lab testing, phlebotomy, specimen pickup and collection, brought to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, mobile physicians, clinical trials and mental health programs — because a patient who cannot come to the lab still needs the lab.

Questions people ask before booking

The short answers. If yours is not here, send it and we will answer it properly.

All questions

For most lab tests, yes. The order tells us which tests to collect and where the results should go. If you do not have one yet, send the request anyway and we will talk through what your provider needs to send.

The lab order if you have a paper copy, a photo ID, and an insurance card if your provider asked for one. Have the patient drinking water beforehand, since it makes the draw easier, and tell us about blood thinners or a history of fainting when you send the request.

Yes. We visit private homes and residential care settings across the DMV area. If several residents need lab work, tell us how many and we can plan a single visit that covers more than one patient.

The test itself is the same. What changes is where the collection happens: the bedside instead of a waiting room, with no drive, no long walk from the parking lot, and no hour spent in a chair that is not yours. Results go to the ordering provider either way.

One request, and Stat Lab comes to you.

Tell us who the visit is for and where. We will call to confirm the day and answer anything you want to ask before we arrive.
